Overview: This is a relaxing outdoor class designed to encourage young growers to break away from the screen for a while. It helps me and I know it will help them! Let's play outside.

Details: 
This inspiring course, with useful gardening tips, will show how easy it is to start and maintain a fruit and vegetable garden, in the ground or containers. I will demonstrate my methods using a variety of common plants, using my garden as the classroom. Sessions start in March for preparation for zone 6 planning. You will want to get this information so there is time to plan for spring planting. I recommend signing up for occasional lessons throughout the season for more tips and tricks in gardening. 

Repeat learners will be taught new material, so stop back for more.. The more you know, the more you grow.

From good soil tips, feeding, harvesting and storing, learners will get supercharged to grow their own fresh food. The information will be structured for the young person in mind without complicated scientific facts. 

The basics of planting will be covered that will lay the groundwork for the learner to manage their garden. Learners can share thoughts and ask questions at any time.

No experience is required for this course.

I have enjoyed vegetable gardening for my adult life. Many years of experience goes a long way in knowing how to grow well, and I'd say I'm up for any challenge from pest control to soil amending. I've taken the approach of working on one aspect at a time so that each step of the growing season meets its potential. There is a lot to juggle with a garden, however proper planning makes it easy and rewarding. I preserve varieties of food that I grow and am able to live off of my harvest into the winter. I always research information to make me a better gardener and try growing new things. There's no one size fits all garden. That's why I think everyone should give it a try at least once and make it work for them, even if only by using containers. It's not hard to understand, but there are steps that need to be followed as to make the most of it. If a kid can start now, they will have their adulthood hone in the skill, like I did. I also enjoy harvesting seeds for the next growing season and propagating plants that I have in order to reduce costs to almost free. The photo for this class shows just a fraction of what I've grown this year. I enjoy making vegetable soup, apple sauce and pickles with my harvest.
