Let’s get together and have some fun making lots of different crafts! Each class will focus on a different craft using easy to obtain materials you probably already have around the house. We’ll be building a community of crafters and I hope you will join us! Projects will use things like paper plates, construction paper, tissue paper, etc. Students will use common craft items such as scissors, markers, crayons, glue, googly eyes, pompoms, and so on. After completing our craft for the day, we will spend time socializing and making new friends. ✂️No special tools or skills needed! Let’s get creative and crafty! Students will need a place to work that is appropriately protected from crafting and moisture. Paper or plastic covered table-top is recommended. Crafts will introduce learners to various media and allow for individual creativity. Supply lists will be posted at the beginning of each week to allow plenty of time to gather. (See the general supply list below for ideas of items to have on hand.) Our class time will be spent learning the craft, sometimes reading a story to go along with the craft, and social time getting to know our new friends. When I teach craft classes, we spend a few minutes getting acquainted, I introduce the project for the day, then present the steps one-by-one and allow students time to complete each step on their own. I use a document camera to make sure students can see and clearly understand each step. The environment is very relaxed, allowing students to work without pressure. I encourage social interaction among students throughout the session. If there is still time at the end of the session, we'll spend it chatting with our new friends or playing a simple game. Here is our upcoming schedule: Week of March 31: Popcorn Spring Tree Week of April 7: 3D Egg Carton Daffodils Week of April 14: Tissue Paper Mosaic Week of April 21: Loopy Paper Flowers
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn how to complete various crafts and the skills needed to go along with each. Many skills carry over into other areas of life. (Following directions, small motor skills, creativity, problem solving, working independently.)
