*This class is also a part of my Natural Sciences ongoing course* In this class we will: Welcome and introduce everyone. Ask and discuss what the students think the concepts of Vertebrates versus Invertebrates mean to them. We will view a slideshow to present the concepts and definitions of Vertebrates and Invertebrates. We may learn an original song about the concepts. We may learn ASL signs that accompany the concepts. We will play a game with slideshow pictures to practice categorization. We will play a more abstract game as the students and I take turns naming things that are Vertebrates or Invertebrates. We will review the concept, sing the song and use the signs again. We will say our goodbyes.
Metas de aprendizaje
*Students will learn the definitions of the concepts of vertebrate and invertebrate.
*Students will use their knowledge to identify and sort the two categories.
*Students will practice critical thinking and social skills while taking turns.
*By the end of class, older students should be able to come up with examples of their own, from each category, and be able to categorize things that they experience in their everyday lives. Younger students will be able to start looking at the world with these concepts in mind.

Custom worksheets will be provided to supplement the class. They may bring coloring utensils to class with them if they would like to color the papers during class, but worksheets are not required.
