Learners may wish to continue to work on their piece after class or simply try out an alternative example using the same style.Experiencia de clase
In this class, learners will first take a brief tour of ‘Pop Art’ culture by examining the art form and exploring some iconic pieces by Andy Warhol. I will then share several Warhol-inspired pieces of my own as a source of inspiration for them to choose their own unique theme or object (e.g. food, animal, technology, art tools, household item etc…) We will look at a range of different colour combinations and see how these relate to colour wheel theory. This will help them to decide on their own choice of colour palette for their piece of artwork. After discussing the composition of the piece (layout, shapes, colours, repetitive images), the majority of the class will be dedicated to the creative process. I will switch to my overhead camera to demonstrate how to create a desired layout and develop the content. This will be a relaxing time to design, chat, ask questions and exchange ideas as we all draw and create together. Learners will have the opportunity to share their work-in-progress during class, or completed pieces at the end (completely optional) giving reasons for their choices. ***Adaptations*** Extension: Learners can produce a piece using more detailed or complex objects or increasing the number of rectangles in their grid. Simplified: Learners can use simple objects to draw or reduce the number of rectangles in their grid. Support: As a starting point, a selection of grid templates and sample objects will be uploaded to the classroom for students to print out or refer to, as they see fit.

Hi and welcome! My name is Paula, aka: 'The Tutorly Owl' and I'm really pleased you've stopped by.
I’m a qualified UK Primary School Teacher of nearly twenty years, and I teach a broad range of subjects. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education, with an English Specialism and graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Warwick. In 2021, I also completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course am I am now a certified ESL teacher. I’m a great believer in lifelong learning so I’m always looking for my next personal challenge!
With a true passion for teaching and learning, I’m really excited to bring my enthusiasm, favourite lessons and personal teaching style to the Outschool platform.
So what are my absolute favourites?
Well, in a nutshell, anything that involves drawing on my creativity!
* Writing: stories, poetry, play scripts, posters, presentations or anything else imaginative!
* Arts and Crafts: card-making, 3D papercraft projects, drawing, painting, working with clay
I believe that learning should be student-focused, interactive and above all fun. I aim to tailor my lessons to my students’ needs, adapting the content and approach for the best possible outcomes. I am always open and willing to listen to, and respond to lesson requests. In fact, students are the best source of inspiration and are full of amazing ideas. If you have something in mind, let me know, and I will try to work my magic and create it for you.
You might have already guessed it, but I absolutely love owls! They’re probably going to make a sneaky appearance in some classes, so watch out for them! My mum loves owls too! As part of my small little business, I designed and made my own owl clocks range – so cute!
When I’m not teaching, I like to relax and enjoy time with my family. I often spend whole days working with my sister on new craft techniques and ideas. I can get extremely messy!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page today! I hope to see your learner in the classroom.
Best wishes,
Paula (The Tutorly Owl)
