1 hora por semana. I clean as I go when I'm in the kitchen but not everyone works that way and that's OK. If this is your style, your job after is to put all ingredients away, clean all items used for your recipe and clean all surfaces. Don't forget to put towels, aprons, etc. away also. Leave your work area cleaner than you found it! When you cook it's always more enjoyable to share what you've so eagerly created so please share your creations with family and friends. Let them enjoy your new recipes with you!

Experiencia de clase

As of September 2021 this class is changing a bit from the past year of baking. Rather than rolls we are now going to make scones!

I LOVE baking any bread! There's nothing like a loaf fresh out of the oven or a warm biscuit with jam or honey or even strawberries and whipped cream. The hardest thing is waiting until they're cool enough to eat.

This class will include four different recipes. Students will learn how to make sandwich bread, biscuits or scones, muffins or quick breads, and always end our month with cinnamon rolls from scratch and enjoy sharing them with family and friends. This class will last from an hour to an hour and a half each day depending on the number of students in class, and the recipe.
CHECK THE MONTHLY SCHEDULE BELOW TO SEE THE DIFFERENT RECIPES WE'LL BE MAKING.

This class is a live teacher baking demonstration, discussion, pointers and tips on baking. Students may create their recipe along with me as I walk them through the steps of the recipe or they may choose to watch the class, then create their recipe with our class video after they've followed along the first time. Take pictures or a short video of your finished recipe if you'd like to share them in the classroom and let me know of any questions or concerns/comments you have.

At the end of each class, students will:
-understand the basics of reading a recipe and measurements used in the recipe
-recall the steps of each recipe and how to work through each step
-be more comfortable working in the kitchen and kitchen safety
-Gain confidence in sharing what they've created and choose to have pride in their creation

Class 1: 2 loaves of the best Basic bread.
Class 2: Dinner rolls and focaccia bread, two different kinds of biscuits (basic biscuits that are light and fluffy and either a pumpkin patch biscuit or a cheddar cheese, garlic biscuit depending on the season) or a chocolate or fruit scone.
Class 3: A quick bread (zucchini, pumpkin, etc. depending on the season) or muffins (banana nut, blueberry, etc.) They're delicious for breakfast or a yummy snack.
Class 4: Cinnamon Rolls with cream cheese or orange icing (I saved the best for last!)
Our cinnamon roll class will take the whole 90 minutes.

September:
week 1: soft delicious Bread
week 2: Zucchini bread or banana chocolate chip bread
week 3: buttermilk biscuits and cheddar garlic drop biscuits
week 4: cinnamon rolls with orange zest with orange glaze

October:

week 2: lemon yogurt poppy seed muffins
week 3: dinner rolls and focaccia bread
week 4: chocolate or cinnamon chip Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing

** Please note-It's not the norm to refund each time a student misses a class as they are able to watch the class video later when they are home from a camp or vacation (I have many students who do the classes on their vacation!), or when they are feeling better if they get sick, and still receive most of the benefits of the class. I send them the ingredient list the week before, the recipe the morning of the class for their records, and then the class is recorded at the listed time.
With that said there are sometimes extenuating circumstances inwhich you have no control! If you are in need of a refund in these cases please message me so we can talk!
For live meetings, I wait for 10 minutes in the classroom. If students do not show, a recording will be provided but no refund.**
Metas de aprendizaje
At the end of each class, students will be:
- more acquainted and comfortable with reading and following a recipe
- more confident working through the written steps of the recipe (asking for help if needed)
- more familiar with kitchen safety and kitchen equipment
- confident in sharing what they've created and have pride in their work
- asked to clean their space when finished cooking and remember to have this be a regular process after using the kitchen

Orientación para padres
As the parent I would ask that you make sure your child is ready to be in a classroom setting to bake in the kitchen. Your children may need your assistance to make certain they are safe and comfortable with the oven, knives, possibly small appliances, etc. NOTE: Outschool's policy is that adults need to remain off-screen. If recipes are not finished when the class time is over I will leave the students as the item goes in the oven and the timer is started. They will have clear instructions on how to finish up after class is over. **Please note that this month long class has a posted minimum amount of students for me to teach the class. This minimum is 3. Please feel free to share the classes you are enrolled in and let your friends know of this class so the minimum is filled. Classes that do not meet the minimum within 48 hours of class beginning may be canceled. As the teacher, I will wait 10 minutes in the classroom after start time. If students do not show, a recording will be provided but no refund will be given.**
Lista de útiles escolares
I will send you the recipe we will be creating a week early so you can decide to collect ingredients and cook with me or watch and create them later. Whatever style of learning works best for you is fine with me. I will enjoy you in class, either way you choose to do class.
