Tarea
1 hora por semana. Each lesson will offer 1 homework assignment. They will vary in length and complexity.
Evaluación
5pt chapter quizzes after each chapter. Students must receive a 4 out of 5 to continue to the next lesson. Additionally there will be an end of book final quiz.
Calificación
Students will receive a grade based on total points. Each chapter will have a 5 point quiz. Additionally there will be a chapters 1-5 and final quiz. There will also be some assignments which will help students gain additional points.

**Lesson Plan: Learning Spanish with "Pobrecita Ana" by Shelli Thompson**

**Objective:** 
- To improve students' Spanish language skills through reading and comprehension of the novel "Pobrecita Ana" by Shelli Thompson.
- To reinforce vocabulary, grammar, and cultural understanding related to the themes presented in each chapter.

**Materials Needed:**
- Email and Internet Access
-Students will be given access to a Canvas course and Flangoo (A reading site similar to Netflix but for Spanish Books)

**Lesson 1: Chapters 1-2**
**Objective:** Introduce the main character and set the stage for the story.

1. **Introduction: Video Lesson (15 minutes):**
   - Briefly introduce the novel and its author.
   - Discuss the title "Pobrecita Ana" and its potential meaning.
   - Pre-teach key vocabulary related to family, feelings, and daily routines.

2. **Reading Comprehension (30 minutes):**
   - Have students read chapters 1 and 2 independently.
   - Discuss comprehension questions as a class.
   - Identify new vocabulary and phrases.

3. **Grammar Focus (20 minutes):**
   - Review basic present tense verbs.
   - Practice conjugating verbs related to daily routines.
   - Provide exercises to reinforce grammar concepts.

**Homework:**
- Write a short paragraph summarizing Ana's daily routine using newly learned vocabulary and grammar structures.

Orientación para padres
Students will be creating an account through Canvas and Flangoo. Both sites require an account to be created; they can usually use single sign on from Google. Canvas is an accredited learning learning module used by many schools. Flangoo is a subscription based service for books in a foreign language.
Requisitos previos
Students should have some knowledge of Spanish, though limited is alright. Recommended at least 1 semester to 1 year of high school level Spanish or 2 years of immersion but for middle school to high school aged.

I have been teaching for 9 years. I have a masters degree in teaching and a bachelors degree in Spanish Education. I have been teaching the novel Pobrecita Ana for the last few years. It is a precursor to the "Pobre Ana" novel.
