Nivel Beginner

This class is designed to help two kinds of learners:

1.  Beginning readers.  If your child knows their letter sounds and is interested in learning to read, then this is a perfect class to help your child learn how to blend the sounds together to read three letter words.

2.  Struggling readers.  Does your child know how to sound out 3 letter words, but then is unable to blend the sounds together to read the word?  Some learners are able to sound out a three sound word, but then struggle to put the sounds together to actually read the word and have it make sense. 

In this 5 week self-paced class, I will demonstrate how to blend sounds together to read three letter words.  After demonstrating how to blend the sounds together, I will give your child time to try blending the sounds together before I do it, and then your learner can check to see if they blended the sounds correctly when they listen to me do it.  After blending the sounds together, I will show a picture of the word that they read.  

If your child is interested in playing Bingo while they learn to blend sounds together, they can play Bingo with the attached bingo sheets for each lesson!  Please encourage your child to first practice blending the sounds together to read the word BEFORE looking for it on the Bingo sheet.

Since this class is self-paced, you are free to re-watch the videos for extra blending practice!

Each lesson has 15 words to practise blending and reading.

After the video lesson, there are fun games to practice reading words with each of the vowel sounds.  Games included are:  Spin the wheel, Dress the Silly Monster, Feed the Shark and more!

After the last lesson, there is one final bonus review matching game to practice reading words with all of the vowel sounds.

Hello!
I have been teaching on Outschool since 2022, and I am absolutely loving it! I love meeting children from all over the world and helping them learn how to read or helping them to grow in their reading abilities.  

My professional background/educational experiences:
After graduating from high school, I attended Bible college and then went to university to get my Bachelor of Education degree.  I was a substitute and term teacher for many years for a variety of grade levels.  I homeschooled my own children for one wonderful year.  And then I taught kindergarten in the public school system for 11 years.

While teaching kindergarten, I thought I knew how to teach children how to read, but it wasn't until I found Reading Simplified and took their amazing reading course, that I finally learned the scientific and proven way of how to teach children how to read!  The Reading Simplified method works!  I have been working with many children for the past 2 years and been amazed at how much and how quickly many of them improve in their reading!

I have also discovered that some children who struggle to learn how to read benefit from Right Brained Teaching Strategies.  This past year I have been learning how to help these bright learners with strategies taught by Dianne Craft.

I am passionate about making an emotional connection with each child and making each child feel seen, heard, special and loved.  I strive to be caring, kind and encouraging while teaching new concepts to young learners.

I am a mom to three beautiful adult daughters, 2 amazing son-in-laws and a Nana to the most precious little baby girl.  I live in Manitoba (which is in Canada:) and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, attending church and exploring the beautiful outdoors.  My favorite activity of all is waterskiing and boating on the lake with my family.  When I am not busy being active in the great outdoors, I love spending a quiet evening reading an engaging book beside my fireplace.
