In this class, students will learn about three holidays widely celebrated in the United States: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. We will learn some new vocabulary in Spanish related to the three holidays including how to say Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, New Year's Eve, pumpkin pie, family, gifts, Santa Claus, food, and celebration. Students will have an opportunity to hear the words in English and Spanish and practice their pronunciation. We will watch a short video and see how New Year’s Eve is celebrated in Spain. We will discuss similarities and differences of New Year’s Eve celebrations in the United States and Spain. I will use a mixture of English and Spanish to present new words in Spanish. No prior experience with Spanish is necessary.
