What is Tu Bishvat? Is it really the Jewish "Earth Day?" How is Tu Bishvat celebrated?

Taught by a teacher with an MA in Jewish Studies, this class introduces students to the Jewish spring holiday of Tu Bishevat. We will talk about different ways the holiday has been celebrated, from ancient times to the present. I'll also explain the origins of the holiday, both religious and secular, as well as why Tu Bishvat is considered a minor holiday.

We'll discuss Tu Bishvat traditions, including the traditional foods of Tu Bishvat. Students will participate through active listening and in-class discussion.

This interactive and inclusive class is open to all students. No prior knowledge is required. This class will primarily focus on how this holiday is celebrated in the United States and Israel.

After completing this class, students will understand the holiday of Tu Bishvat.

**In order to facilitate discussion, this class will work best if students keep their screens on (at least most of the time.)**
