1-2 horas por semana. Homework is for YOUR benefit. Study the vocabulary. Make your noun/adjective/verb charts. Practice translations. I provide all the materials you need to work in your dedicated Latin notebook. For every hour of Latin class, you should be studying for - at the very least - two hours.Evaluación
Informal assessment sent after class.Experiencia de clase
Previous knowledge required: A working knowledge of English parts of speech and how it relates to Latin cases; 1st/2nd/3rd noun/adjective declensions and cases; 1st/2nd and Esse/Posse verb conjugations in the past, future, and imperfect tenses; rudimentary vocabulary including common conjunctions and prepositions. If this is your first class with me, I will send you a vocabulary list prior to class starting so you can refer to it as we work. In this class, we will learn about the 3rd conjugation verbs in the present, future, and imperfect tenses. These verb ending veer from the usual endings of 1st and 2nd conjugations, so we will spend a great deal of class time working with this material. We will also practice translations, and increase the vocabulary. This is a very interactive class. We do repetition, drills, and sight reading. We discuss Roman culture, linguistics, and how Latin still affects many modern languages. Education is a conversation, and your voice is valued. Please feel free to share ideas, comments, and ask questions! No 3rd party accounts are necessary. We do use the free online resource (Latin Wiktionary) as our dictionary and case-checker!
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will be introduced to the 3rd conjugation verb in the Present Indicative system (using only the tenses for present, future, and imperfect at this point). We will also practice and drill the new endings, as well as practice translating from a grammatical standpoint. If there is time, we will attempt to sight read a passage.

Lista de útiles escolares
Students need a dedicated Latin notebook for making and studying their vocabulary and noun, adjective, and verb charts. This tool is key to learning and remembering word endings and the meanings of the root words. After class, I will send via Outschool message a copy of the slide show as well as a vocabulary list and translation practice. I can send it in either Office format (docx or pptx), Apple format (keynote/pages), or as Google links (docs/slides). Let me know your preference.
