2-4 horas por semana. If you happen to be a first-time student to my Latin classes, I will provide you with all of the previous materials you need to jump in and be current for this class. For previous students, your homework today will be to study the provided handout and complete a comprehensive take-home quiz to be turned in via Outschool messages. Homework is for YOUR benefit. Study the vocabulary. Make your noun/adjective/verb charts. Practice translations. I provide all the materials you need to work in your dedicated Latin notebook. For every hour of Latin class, you should be studying for - at the very least - two hours (I suggest a little more, but I proudly confess that I am a big old Latin nerd).Evaluación
The assessment for this class is different. I will send a comprehensive study guide and take-home quiz to be completed and returned to me via Outschool messages. Your parents will be copied on the final result.Experiencia de clase
Previous knowledge required: A working knowledge of English parts of speech and how it relates to Latin cases; 1st/2nd/3rd (including i-stems) nouns and 1st/2nd adjectives (declensions and how to use the cases); 1st/2nd /3rd/4th and Esse/Posse verb conjugations in the past, future, and imperfect tenses (active indicative); rudimentary vocabulary including common conjunctions and prepositions; demonstrative pronouns (hic/ille/iste and idem), personal pronouns (ego/nos, etc), reflexive & intensive pronouns/adjectives. You'll need to be familiar with parsing sentences and some ability to sight read. If this is your first class with me, I will send a vocabulary list prior to class starting so you can refer to it as we work. If you've had Latin classes with me, bring your handouts/notebook to class!! Today is a big day. We are looking back at everything we have covered from the Pre-Latin class and Latin 1 Class 1 - Class 14. It is a review of sorts, and we will spend the entire class working on translations, revisiting the vocabulary, working with the declension and conjugation charts. This is the final class in this first section of Latin 1, and this class prepares you to go forward with confidence. This is a very interactive class. We do repetitions, drills, and sight reading. We discuss Roman culture, linguistics, and how Latin still affects many modern languages. Education is a conversation, and your voice is valued. Please feel free to share ideas, comments, and ask questions! No 3rd party accounts are necessary. We do use the free online resource (Latin Wiktionary) as our dictionary and case-checker!
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will review their gained knowledge of Latin and realized just how much they have learned. It will be a tremendous confidence-builder when they see exactly how much they do know.
