In each class learners will be taught a letter of week, and given background information to help them discover what our theme based story lesson will be. We will then discuss the two types of stories to be read. Is the story fiction or nonfiction? We will discuss the difference. Each class is theme based around the time of year and what would be taught in traditional classroom circle and center time. Example, Frogs-letter F, what other words make this sounds, practice making letter,...
- Students will build knowledge of letters and sounds in this class as well as opportunity to make letters and work on fine motor skills. Students will learn difference between fiction and non fiction stories as well as learn how to answer comprehension questions for each genre. This is an important skill to master for young readers. What did the author tell us? Who was the main character?
