We will explore the beauty of watercolor while create this translucent koi painting. Students will learn to blend colors and create movement with their brush strokes. Proper brush care will be discussed as well as how to use the brushes to create texture with them. We will discuss what colors to begin a watercolor with, and why complimentary colors are such an important part of a painting. We will have some basic colors to use and mixing our own colors will be encouraged. A little color theory is always thrown into the lesson. My teaching style is to give enough instruction to keep everyone on track while letting each person's individuality be expressed as well.

Students will learn to create water movement along with some color theory. They will learn how to use their brush, and be encouraged to mix colors.

Supply List 8 inch by 10 inch watercolor paper,(regular printer paper will rip) bowl or water, paper towels, number 12 round brush that comes to a point, 1/2 inch flat brush, square at the top (see attached photo) palette paper (or a watercolor tray or foam plate), Watercolor paint tubes, not the trays. A set is easy to find a craft stores. We will use white, yellow, orange, alizarin crimson(red), purple, blue, and black.
