Experiencia de clase

In this class, learners will explore the world of the Stuart royal family. We will learn about how they became the royal family and challenges to the power of the monarchy. We'll learn about key events during the Stuart period, including plague, fire and the gunpowder plot.

We'll learn about the civil war and explore the question of whether Oliver Cromwell made good choices or poor choices. Finally, we will look at the restoration period and the Glorious Revolution and learn about how parliament became increasingly important during this period.

As well as learning about the monarchs, learners will also explore changes to laws and religion and how the monarchs impacted the way normal people lived.

Orientación para padres
As a history class focusing on deceased monarchs, this course will touch upon death in all sessions, including execution. In the session on Civil War, we will discuss a war. In the sessions on James I, we will discuss witch hunts. This will not be a focus of the class and will be presented in an age appropriate way. In all sessions, we will be discussing religion (particularly the idea of Catholic and Protestant religions and the centrality of religion in the Stuart period). This will be presented in a factual and historical way, showing what people believed and will not promote any form of religion.
Requisitos previos
No prior learning needed, however, it would be helpful for learners to have a concept of monarchy as a hereditary concept.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
