** Join any week!
*** This class runs year long with new content every week!

In this ongoing class, students will gather together to learn about literacy, numeracy, social, science and so much more! Students in class should be familiar with their ABC's (knowing most letters and letter sounds independently or with minimal assistance) and their numbers from 1-100 (though they do not need to have them mastered- we will work on that together in class!) Each week we will explore a different theme and topic, so feel free to join at anytime!! Optional worksheets will be sent every Sunday that go along with each class topic. Students are welcome to complete the worksheets before class to help prepare, or after class to help with understanding.

🗓We will start each day by saying hello to one another and with calendar time. Please note that this calendar time will change in duration- some days we will spend extra time focusing on the days/months (singing our days and months song), and other days we will quickly locate the date as a group. 📆

🧮🎲Monday and Wednesday (Numeracy)🧮🎲
Students will work on different math skills including (but not limited to) counting starting from 1, counting starting and stopping at random numbers, skip counting by 2's, 5's, 10's, number recognition, shapes, addition, subtraction, patterns, size, and comparisons. Students will engage with interactive/animated slides and start their worksheets at the end of class.
** If you are looking for additional math support, please join my Tuesday/Thursday Grade 1 Math Class. The math topics in that class compliment the ones in this one.

✏️✏️✏️Tuesday and Thursdays (Literacy)✏️✏️✏️
Each week we will focus on a different literacy concept including (but not limited to):
- identifying letter sounds, digraphs, and blends
-reading, writing, and spelling CVC, CVCe, CCVC, CVCC, and sight words
-creating sentences and adding details
-rhyming and matching
-literacy discussions

🎉🖍🎨Fun Friday!🎉🖍🎨
On Fridays we will have a group social / show and share. Students can bring a toy or special item they want to share with the class and students will be encouraged to ask questions and make comments about each others items. We will also work on a coloring sheet (provided) or students can bring something of their own to work on.

*More to Come* Literacy and numeracy will be updated as the class approaches.

Parents, please assist your child off camera when needed. This class is aimed for children 4-6 years old but 7 year old students are more than welcome. I try to allow the children to keep their microphones on at all times as I want the children to be able to answer questions and interact with one another; because of this, please find a quiet space in your house for your child to take class. If there is a lot of background noise I will ask that you mute and unmute your child during class time. If you are looking for a child 3-4 years of age, please check out my 2x a week Circle Time.

*Please note that this class will run with 2 learners but may be closer to 20-25 minutes*

A little about me:
I work fulltime as an elementary school teacher at a private academic school that focuses on numeracy and literacy. I have my certification in special needs education, my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and am currently completing my masters in early childhood development. I have over 7 years of teaching experience and specialize in early elementary (teaching students between 4 and 8 years old). Teaching is my absolute passion and I put my heart into everything I do.

Students are strongly encouraged to participate in class discussion and will be asked questions during class time. However, if a child is not comfortable sharing they will not be forced. As an early childhood educator I understand that students will share when they are ready!
