This class is targeted for high school students who are preparing for SAT's or PSAT's or ACT's. The high-energy weekly class filled with specific instruction on each kind of SAT question (including PSAT) and ACT questions. One concept per week - 2 meetings focused on explaining the concept thoroughly. This works well paired with the Kickin' It Rapid Fire class which focuses on speedy delivery of many questions to build speed on many different kinds of math problems in one session per week. Use this for SAT/PSAT/ACT Prep. Also consider this as a way to round out your learner's math skills during their high school career, since they will be reviewing and revisiting these topics over a 33-week cycle. That means it's great for high schoolers who want to begin their SAT prep on a more basic level. This is a real confidence-builder and a great way to get your learner dig in with the math for PSAT and SAT Prep. Topics include: Weekly rotation of different concepts your student needs to know for the math segment of the SAT. I update where we are in that rotation here on this publicly available list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19nJscX55HByCH-ivR1q_zJ3W_9aWJYrOzF13JE_vpdU/edit#gid=0 Has your learner been trying to make themselves look at those "daily questions" to practice the SAT, but either didn't have someone holding them accountable or didn't have a live teacher helping them understand the question? I've been teaching math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 150 and 300 points. Learners reinforce their skills in algebraic terminology and tricks! We all study and prepare for the SAT as best as we can. And we may even feel like we can do algebra pretty well. But what separates the good SAT math scores from those of excellence is the student who doesn't have to stop to try to remember how to approach something. While everyone sometimes has to do that, there is still hope! There are certain tricks and terms in algebra that can be drilled and reinforced for speed. That could make big difference in your final score! This class will take SAT Practice questions and work through them with the students to keep them on track for being ready for the PSAT/SAT. I keep the class lively, informative, and encourage learner input while helping every understand we're in the same boat - everyone is learning! Buckle in! It's going to be a fun class!
Metas de aprendizaje
After several cycles of these five weekly topics, your learner will be able to say, "I can more easily and quickly solve the easier PSAT / SAT math problems that involve the following topics: Word Problems with Pre-Algebra Level Math, Word Problems with Early Algebra 1 Level Math, Means, Medians, and Modes plus Ratios and Proportions, Linear Systems of Equations and Parabolas.
Students will be more prepared for the easier math problems on the PSAT/SAT, and thereby preparing them for the more advance PSAT/SAT prep which is covered in the Kick It course (non-junior edition).
Your student will come out of this game far more quick-on-their-feet for the math SAT.

Orientación para padres
Students will have far more fun if they have studied linear equations and are comfortable with the terminology and concepts. This class is not an introductory or concept teaching class. Its sole purpose is to build speed and students are expected to be familiar enough to participate.

I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.
The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.
It can be done! Just watch how your learner improves!
