1 hora por semana. There is no formal homework, but students are encouraged to practice together with a grown-up helper during the week so that they feel ready for the next class.Experiencia de clase
This class serves as an introduction to karate techniques as well as an outlet for siblings to do something fun and active together. My goal is for pairs (or trios, or more) siblings to be able to learn karate all at the same time and give them some things that they can hopefully practice together (with grown-ups' permission, of course!). **Parents, please sign up siblings individually** Per Outschool policy, learners need to be signed up individually, but are welcome to use the same device during class. Each class will follow a similar format, but will shift focus on a rotating basis each week between punches/strikes, kicks, blocks, and falls/rolls. The general format is as follows: Warm-up Punches Kicks Blocks Combinations Falls/Rolls Terminology Combinations Stretching Combinations are interspersed throughout the lesson and help stitch the individual techniques together. Siblings will also be doing partner drills together (this will be a shifting activity and may not happen every week depending on how everyone is getting along that day) such as blocking each other's slow grabs or holding a hand out for the other to tap with a kick. If a grown-up helper is available, this activity can be more easily facilitated.

Orientación para padres
Karate is a contact sport and accidents can happen. When we are practicing individual drills, there is little risk of injury other than occasional falls when balance fails. When we are working in sibling pairs, it would be advised that a grown-up is available to mediate any conflict that may come up, but I will try my best to point it out verbally if I see something going awry and will stop partner work if a particular group is having trouble that day.

I have been teaching karate to students under age 10 for the last six or so years and I work regularly with students aged 3-6. I am skilled at redirection and patient with learners who are having trouble. My classes are upbeat and encouraging and I work to mention each student's successes during class.
