Welcome to Junior Story Time Art Club! I am so glad you're here!

This class is an on-going class but learners are welcome to drop in/out any time. 

Topics Covered: 
This class will focus on reading comprehension and following step-by step directions.

Class Structure: Each week, we will read a new story. I will read the story out loud and stop and call on learners to share their thoughts about the story. The class will be structured with about 8 minutes read aloud, 12 minutes drawing a step-by-step picture, and 5 minutes sharing our work.

Teaching Style: My teaching style is "casual structure". I like students to be un-muted, after the story, so they can share their thoughts and ideas. I like to call on individuals if they feel comfortable sharing. 

The only materials needed each week are paper, a pencil, and something to color with (crayons, markers, or colored pencils).

My name is Teacher Meg. I am so glad you're here!

I am excited to offer different types of classes including... but not limited to:
Pre-K/Kindergarten skills (ages 4-6), Sight Words Classes (ages 4-7), First Grade Phonics, Writing Sentences, English as a Second Language (ESL) **Private Tutoring & Group Conversational English practice,  & Story Time/Art (elementary). 

My Background:
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2012 from Barton College in North Carolina. I am a licensed teacher in the areas of Elementary Education K-5, Middle Grades Mathematics 6-9, and Special Education K-12. I also hold a TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages) certificate. I have 7 years of public school teaching experience. Currently, I am a Work-At-Home mom of two kids. I have been teaching online for the past 3 years, so I understand the importance of making students feel welcome and included in this setting.

My Philosophy:
I believe all children are capable of being successful, regardless of their backgrounds. I believe that every child has different strengths and can use their strengths to overcome their weaker areas. I also think that the more fun a child has, the more they will want to learn. 

Fun Facts About Me:
-I have a husband, a daughter, and a son. Both of my children enjoy taking classes on Outschool.
-I have 3 dogs and 1 cat.
-I enjoy running, baking, and finding new restaurants/places to visit.
-My favorite color is blue.
