In this single class, young learners will have a blast learning all about archaeology, dig sites, artifacts and more. This course is chock full of age-appropriate sharing and interaction! Students will alternate between movement activities, video clips, a read-aloud selection, and drawing/building/sculpting challenges related to the theme. Content will be reinforced by these hands-on activities plus interactive discussion, with plenty of time to share their projects and ask questions. The lesson will include information on defining archaeology as a science, and what archaeologists do, some of the tools they use, famous cultural dig sites and the artifacts (treasure!) they discover. Let's dig into archaeology together!

I'm excited to learn about the exciting world of archaeology with you--they are real-live treasure hunters! I've been teaching STEAM topics like this one to preschool through middle school for 6 years through an independent STEAM education company, and I'm really looking forward to connecting with new students here on Outschool. I'm also a homeschooling momma of 8 years, with non-neurotypical learners at home who have taught me how to approach learning with empathy and a shared sense of wonder first and foremost. Not only will we be learning about archaeology, but we'll sneak in some colors, numbers and math, comparing and contrasting, observation, movement and more--all things that preK, kindergartners and 1st graders love to learn and practice!
