Welcome Junie B. Jones fans or those who would like try out some of these amazing books! This book club is for us to read and enjoy this wonderful and "full of attitude" funny character and all of the experiences she goes through! Students will have the opportunity to listen to me read, other students read, and even read as well if the student would like to. This class is great for allowing students to match spoken work to written word as they follow along while the book is being read aloud. This can aid in building vocabulary and getting students to read and read more fluently. Each class meeting, we will read and discuss Junie B. Jones books. It will take us 2-3 weeks to finish a book depending on reading by students. Through discussion and reading, students will have the opportunity to practice reading comprehension and fluency. We will begin each class with introductions and brief socializing. During our class meeting, I will be reading the book during class, and students will be encouraged to read some to the class as well if they would like to. Reading in class is not required. As we read, students are asked to follow along in their book to experience the connection of spoken word to written word as this will increase vocabulary.  As we read, we will spend time practicing comprehension skills through discussion of story elements- character, setting, plot, etc. Through asking and answering questions among other reading strategies we will use in this class, students will build on their reading comprehension skills. This class also provides an opportunity for socializing with peers. If time allows, I will briefly introduce the book students should read for the following week. So, come enjoy time with new friends and maybe even laugh a little with our favorite sassy character-Junie B. Jones!

 **This is an ongoing book club. Students can enroll and unenroll as needed. Books usually take 2-3 weeks to complete depending on discussion time and time spent reading by teacher and students. This course is more student-led and progression will depend on time spend reading and discussing each book.
