Class Experience In this creative, story-driven course, learners will work together to build fantasy islands from scratch while exploring themes like culture, ecology, mythology, and teamwork. Each session combines world-building, storytelling, and collaborative problem-solving through fun, hands-on digital activities. What will be taught? Students will learn core creative skills such as map-making, character design, cultural development, and myth-building. They’ll explore real-world ideas like ecosystems, sustainability, and architecture—all within a fantasy setting. Learners will also practice public speaking, writing, and digital organization skills. Topics include: World-building and exploration Creating guardians and mythical creatures Building shelters, towns, and landscapes Designing flags, legends, tools, and resources Understanding ecosystems and sustainability Collaborating to solve island conflicts Preparing a group showcase and presentation Class structure: This is a 2-month cohort running Monday to Friday with 1-hour live sessions. Each week introduces new themes tied to our adventure. Students will meet in small groups, collaborate in breakout rooms, and work together in shared Google Slides and Docs. Fridays are game-based to review and reinforce learning. How I teach: My teaching style is supportive, imaginative, and highly interactive. I use slides, questions, discussion, and storytelling to spark creativity and guide learners in shaping their own unique island worlds. I move between breakout rooms to check in, offer support, and inspire ideas. Learner interaction: Live group discussions and brainstorms Breakout rooms for teamwork and collaboration Q&A and reflection time Interactive slides and image prompts Weekly group games Final project showcase with optional family viewing Learners will be guided throughout their journey, encouraged to lead with their imagination, and supported every step of the way as they craft, share, and bring their ideas to life.
