Welcome to the Java Programming Bootcamp Course on Outschool! We are excited to have your child participate in this immersive and engaging programming experience. To help you better understand the course and support your child throughout their learning journey, please review the following parental guidance. Course Overview The Java Programming Bootcamp Course is designed for children aged 12-18 who have an interest in learning computer programming. It is a beginner-friendly course that introduces students to the basics of Java, a versatile and widely-used programming language. By the end of the course, students will be able to write their own Java programs and solve problems using critical thinking and programming skills. Prerequisites No prior programming experience is required for this course. However, it is recommended that students have basic computer literacy and are comfortable using a keyboard and mouse. Equipment and Software To participate in this course, your child will need a computer with a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone. The latest version of the Java Development Kit (JDK) should be installed on their computer. They will also need a Java Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, or Visual Studio Code, which can be downloaded for free. Time Commitment This course consists of multiple online sessions, usually one to two hours in length each, spread over a few weeks. It is important that your child attends all scheduled sessions to fully benefit from the course content. Homework and practice assignments will also be given to reinforce concepts learned during class.
