***Each section of the class will require at least 3 students to open. When there aren't enough students to start a class, the starting date will be extended to the following week. ***Please check with your homeschooling requirement to see if this course meets your need. *****There is no make-up to lessons you miss. You will be able to request for the recorded material for viewing within the same week you missed your class. Recorded material will only be available when you miss a lesson. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What will be taught? ***Please see syllabus ---------------------- >>>Look for Japanese Level 1 (Once a Week 45 Minutes for Semester 2) for the next class!! ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How is your class structured? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: We will meet in zoom for 45 minutes, once a week. The class will use the newest edition of a textbook and a workbook. Students will not be able to participate in class without the purchase of a textbook and a workbook. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How will you teach? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: On zoom through Outschool platform. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What's your teaching style? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Easy-going, but perhaps because of the subject I teach, most students are really respectful, which I truly appreciate. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Learning a foreign language is all about interaction!! There will be interactive class activities for informal assessments. Pair activities/assignments are designed to develop each student's 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. If you are a home school student who is looking for a formal assignment grades, I will be happy to work with you (but I need to know what is expected). ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Any required experience or knowledge learners need? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: This is a beginner's class taught with textbook and workbooks that are used in high schools in the U.S., as well as in universities. Students will spend some time learning hiragana as well as outside of class on their own with recommended materials. Please note that since this is for a beginner level Japanese taught with a textbook that is used for both high schools and universities, younger students may find it challenging. This is a class for dedicated learners which require work and dedication :) If the student has learned Japanese for a year, or even self-studied Japanese for a year, this would be a comfortable level.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn to comprehend written, audio, audiovisual, and visual text.
Students will be able to make interdisciplinary and cultural connections.

Certified teacher for Japanese (EC-12), Mandarin(EC-12) and Art(EC-12). I grew up speaking Japanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese, so I have no problem mixing them up to meet your need. Many years of freelance tutoring experience for Japanese and Mandarin have helped me teaching all levels of Japanese including Pre-AP and AP classes at my former employment at a public high school.
