Tarea
1 hora por semana. Students will have weekly homework assignment posted to the classroom 24 hours after each weekly meeting.
Evaluación
Students will be assessed using weekly Nearpod quizzes posted to the classroom (40 points total), Weekly discussion board assignments (20 points total) and Unit Exit Summary (40 points) posted after the last week of class. The rubric for the summary will be posted after the first week of class. Weekly instructor feed back will be submitted to students via Outschool discussion board and individual messaging. Assessment for the course can be completed with feedback up to one month after the course is completed.

Together learners will explore the basic concepts of oceanography.  Class time will include a combination of multi-media presentation, whole class discussion, student collaboration and concept application.  Students will use Google Suite applications such as but not limited to the following: Slides, Earth and Jamboard.  These activities are used to demonstrate learner understanding and learn collaboration during class time. 

Concepts in this course provide an overview of the following topics by week:
Week 1: Ocean water chemistry and ocean basins
Week 2: Wave formation and tides
Week 3: Surface and deep water currents
Week 4: Integrated concept review with hurricanes

This course provides an option for traditional letter grade assessment.  Please see assessment details listed below.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe how the Coriolis effect acts on ocean basins. 
- Describe how wind waves are formed.
- Describe how tides are created and predicted.
- Describe the difference between surface and deep water currents and how they are created. 
- Describe how hurricanes are created and the impact they have on coastal physical oceanography.

Note-taking handouts will be supplied 24 hours prior to the class meeting.  Copies of presentations will be posted following class for student use as needed.
