This introductory course is open to any student with a desire to learn about the ever-changing world of Music Technology. This course will introduce students to the basics of using a computer for music: musical notation technology, MIDI technology, digital audio technology, and recording studio techniques. At the end of this course students will be able to demonstrate how technology can be used to aid in the recording and presentation of acoustic instruments as well as how electronic music can be produced or recorded through hands-on, real life experiences. Every week students will learn different skills through class instruction and then will have the opportunity to practice through a GarageBand project.

Student will need to have GarageBand installed on their computer and a pair of headphones. Unfortunately the assignments can not fully be completed on an iPad or iPhone. Students do not need to create an account in GarageBand and the application is offered through the App Store on all apple computers. Students will only compose music using music already installed in the application.
