In this class, we are going to visit a "mini-museum" about Chinese FOOD culture! Agenda: 1. Ice-Breaker 2. Ancient Chinese Food 3. Table Manners/Etiquette 4. Tablewares: Spoon, Bowl, and Chopsticks 5. China's 8 Cuisines, Famous Dishes, Hotpot 6. Chinese Drinks 7. Chinese Snacks 8. Chinese Street Food 9. Kahoot! Game Description: This class starts with an interesting ice-breaker! The first part of the class will be a 25-30 minutes slideshow. I will talk about the food in ancient China, such as what was the food like in ancient China, and what was the difference between the emperor's food and the other people's food? Then, I'll talk about Chinese table manners and tableware (ex. how to use chopsticks properly). In different provinces and cities, people have different dining etiquette. Next comes the eight famous cuisines. There are a total of 23 provinces in China, eight of which are famous nationwide for their cuisine. I will also teach you some Chinese food names, which you can try at Chinese restaurants! Then I will talk about the Chinese drinks, snacks, and street food! Each place in China has its signature street food. For example, Guangdong's egg waffle, Beijing's tanghulu (candy fruit), Shanghai's fried buns, and so much more! At the end of the class, there will be a 15-minute Kahoot game. This game will give students a deeper impression of what they have learned in class. Notice: This is not a cooking course, it is just a cultural course for students to know more about Chinese food :)

Hi! I'm Ms. Chen, a Toronto native passionate about teaching. Currently in my fourth year at Queen's University, pursuing a dual degree in Bachelor of Arts Honors and Bachelor of Education. My commitment to education started in high school, volunteering to teach children to read. Since then, I've had diverse experiences, from co-teaching at a private school to leading summer camps and tutoring, all focused on fostering learning.
Miss Feng (Mandarin & Cantonese Teacher):
Hi, I'm Ms. Feng. Originally from Montreal, raised in Guangzhou, and educated in Cyprus, I'm currently in my fourth year at the University of Toronto, double majoring in History and Cinema Studies with a minor in French. My teaching experience includes public speaking, debate coaching, French tutoring, and Chinese instruction. Outside of academics, I'm a versatile dancer and fluent in five languages.
Ms. Tse (Mandarin & Cantonese Teacher):
Hi, I'm Ms. Tse. A native speaker of Cantonese and Mandarin, I hold a degree in Chinese Language and Literature. Currently pursuing a master's in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, I have over three years of teaching experience in Hong Kong and the US. I aim to immerse students in the Chinese language and culture, bridging cultural gaps. Outside the classroom, I enjoy photography and travel, and I am a cat enthusiast.
Ms. Wang (Mandarin Teacher):
Hi! I was born and raised in Shandong, China, and now live in Ontario. I am a native Mandarin speaker with a BA in French Literature and am currently pursuing a Master of Education at the University of Windsor. Since 2018, I have taught children aged 6-12, specializing in language enlightenment and fostering learning interest. I enjoy teaching Mandarin and Chinese culture, love vampire literature and have two pet fancy rats and a Bichon.
Ms. Han (Math Teacher):
Hello! I was born and raised in Heilongjiang, China, I have taught in Singapore since 2013 and in Canadian schools since 2016. I hold an OSSD high school diploma with honours and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from McGill University.
