 Week 1
Lesson 1
Johannes Vermeer
During this class students will learn about Johannes Vermeer who was considered to be one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age He specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life using expensive paints. He is known for his masterful treatment of light in his work. In this class students will have a brief PowerPoint introduction to the artist followed by a drawing lesson where students will draw and color one of his famous paintings called "Girl with a Pearl Earring."
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Hokusai
Hokusai was a famous artist born in 1760 in Edo, Japan. As a boy he became an engravers apprentice. Later he became a Japanese artist and printmaker of the Ukiyo-e School. In the class students will learn about the artist through a unique PowerPoint presentation then draw his famous print called The Great Wave of Kanagawa. During the first half of class students will develop the drawing in five progressive steps. Your child will be inspired using light and color in their completed masterpiece!
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Henrie Rousseau
Henri Rousseau was a famous artist from France who is best known for his jungle-themed paintings that are filled with vibrant color and life like detail! His style of art was known as Primitivism. Rousseau’s paintings had a superior quality that made the lush green jungles and wild animals come to life on the canvas! In this class students will draw and color his famous painting called “Jungle with Lion “in five steps. The drawing will be followed by a story about the artist.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Henri Matisse
The famous artist Henri Matisse was born in France in 1869. Matisse was a draftsperson, printer, and sculptor, but he was primarily known as a painter. Matisse is said to have had a profound influence on the development of Modern Art. He used intense colors, repeatable patterns, and flattened forms to create his Modern Art. This class students will develop a drawing of one of his famous paintings called “Beasts of the Sea.” The lesson will be followed by a story.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Grant Wood
Grant Wood is one of the best known and revered artists of the 20th century. He was born in 1891 in Iowa. His paintings reflect life in the American mid-west and was known as American Regionalism. In this class students will have a unique PowerPoint introduction to the artist. They will then draw and color on his most famous painting known as “American Gothic.” The painting depicts either a married farming couple or a father and daughter in front of the farmhouse with a large Gothic window.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Salvadore Dali
Salvadore Dali was a famous artist who made paintings, sculptures, and films about his dreams. This style of art is called Surrealism. In this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist they will explore the subconscious while recreating his famous painting called “The Persistence of Time.” The drawing will be done in five steps, followed by a time to color and listen to a short story.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Faith Ringold
Faith Ringgold was born in 1930 in Harlem, New York and was a multi-talented artist, educator, and activist. She was active during the Civil Rights and Women’s Movement in the 1960’s and 1970’s. She used art to advocate for women’s rights and social justice. Ringgold’s artwork includes painting, sculpture, performance art and quilting. In this class students will be introduced to the artist through a PowerPoint and draw and color one of her famous quilt called “Tar Beach.”
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Michael Delacroix
Michael Delacroix was born in France in 1933. The Primitivism style in his paintings combined structure and detail with rich color to convey the bustling activity found in the city of Paris. In this class students will be introduced to the artist through a unique PowerPoint that will be followed by a drawing class in which student will draw and color his famous painting known as “Christmas is Back.”
  • Students will learn about specific movements in art and the artists associated with those movements. They will draw a famous painting by that artist. Students will learn drawing techniques.
The teacher is a School Psychologist, Portrait Artist, and teacher with a passion for teaching children how to draw!

Detalles: Teacher will evaluate each student's drawing and give personalized feedback during class. Teacher will also provide written feedback to parents after class in the form of an email.
