Welcome! I'm excited that you joined this class. To ensure the best signing experience for everyone, please be sure to join the class meeting from a distraction free environment with your camera set up to capture the top of your head down to five inches above your waist. Please also refrain from using distracting virtual backgrounds and if possible, blur, as it can compromise the ability to effectively read fingerspelling. During our introductions, remember to keep your private information private. For example, no last names, home cities, or gaming handles! I'd also love for you to share any background or questions you have in this topic area. I can't wait to see you in class! As a reminder, when posting in the classroom remember to follow the Outschool guidelines to be kind, safe, and respectful: https://static.outschool.com/Outschool+Participation+Guidelines.pdf

I have a communicative level of ASL, having been exposed to the language from the age of 2. I skipped my community college's first level ASL course due to my prior experience and took my first college level ASL at Community College of Philadelphia. For the past three years, I have been teaching ASL to 6-12-year-olds at a homeschool co-op. I continue with my involvement in the deaf community by regularly attending deaf meetups and events.
