Introducción a los sonidos de las letras | Habilidades esenciales para lectores principiantes

Worried about the summer slide or just want to prepare your child for the school year ahead? In this one on one session, learners will learn the letter sounds and be taught how to blend words and read independently. In our first session, I will do an assessment to see what they already know and what they need help with. I will introduce the letter sounds in an order that allows learners to begin using their new knowledge right away and teach them how  to blend and segment to read and write cvc words. Our sessions will include games, oral practice and word building. 

I recommend 2 shorter sessions a week to give your child additional practice. I will also supply some short tasks for practice in between our sessions for the best success. 

Some learning that may be covered in sessions includes:
* Initial assessment to determine the starting point for our sessions
* Introducing letter sounds in an evidence based order
* Using known sounds to read and write CVC words
* Heart words 
* Using decodable readers
* Reading decodable sentences
* Segmenting words (breaking words into individual sounds) and manipulating the sounds 
     (changing the sounds to make make new words)
* Decoding words (identifying the sounds and blending them to read the word).

I use evidence based practice in all my classes, incorporating explicit teaching and lots of chance for practice, revision and interactive learning. I pride myself on being a supportive and encouraging teacher. My teaching style encourages student interaction and is responsive to learner needs. I like using games, digital manipulatives and some slides when I teach.
