When a student takes this class, they can expect a thorough introduction on who Shakespeare was and his impact on storytelling. Students will be asked about their familiarity with Shakespeare and the class will adjust to student input. Plays that may be discussed include: Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Othello, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. I've performed in several of these on stage. Class will begin with a short meet and greet to discuss learning goals. We will then talk about the "Bard" himself, Shakespeare. Afterward, we will discuss one of his plays based off of student interests, and finally we will learn Sonnet 18 in the last part of the class with a small overview of its iambic pentameter. We may also learn a monologue by Puck from "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will receive a fun introduction to Shakespeare, his birthplace, the theater venues he worked in, and the work he created. Learners will have the opportunity to direct the path of conversation and will work on learning a sonnet, specifically Sonnet 18. The iambic pentameter of Sonnet 18 will be discussed and practiced as well.

Orientación para padres
In this section, conversation may lead toward shocking actions within the plays of Shakespeare. His work possesses murder (Macbeth), betrayal (Othello), and people being baked into pies then fed to guests at a dinner party (Titus Andronicus.) These are simply examples and care will be taken to not scare but inspire interest and make learning memorable. Class sizes are kept very small so students get focused attention and instruction.
Lista de útiles escolares
A pdf sheet will be provided outlining the iambic pentameter of Sonnet 18.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Since the age of ten I've been performing on stage and have acted in several works of Shakespeare throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, and in Toronto, Canada. Favorite roles played are Feste in "12th Night", Puck in "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and Bassanio in "The Merchant of Venice." In 2007 I studied Shakespeare in Oxford, England and had the pleasure of experiencing his work at the Globe Theater, Royal Shakespeare Company, and Blackfriars theater. I will be happy to share photos and stories of these experiences. Today I work mostly as a voice over actor and private tutor that aspires to inspire the same passion I hold for literature in the hearts of others and open up the world to them like it did me.
