Students are welcome to class that have no physics experience! This course is a 1 a week course for 12 weeks. Our course will be covering an introductory series in physics. We will have lectures, class discussions, and hands on experiments. One experiment will be completed in class each week. Materials will be posted and students will have the choice to bring the items to class and work along with the teacher or they can simply watch the experiment if they prefer. Students will have hand-outs each week. These will be used as guided notes. Students are not required to complete the hand-outs as homework. However, the teacher will provided feedback and help if there are additional questions on the guided notes and follow up questions after the experiment. Some topics will involve slide shows for information. There will not be slide shows each week as some topics are covered through lecture, guided notes and experiments. Course Content: week 1- Basic Laws of Physics week 2- Technology in Physics week 3- Balanced and Unbalanced Forces week 4 - Potential Energy, Kinetic Energy, How is energy Converted week 5- Energy Conservation week 6 - Inertia, Friction, Mass, Momentum week 7- Velocity, Speed, Acceleration week 8 - Chemical Energy week 9 - Electric Force Fields, Electric Potential Energy, Electrostatics week 10 - Conductors and Insulators, Ohms Law week 11 - Magnetism, Electromagnets, Biomagnetism week 12 - Non-Linear Motion Class Schedule: 5 min- Intro 10 - topic introduction and key vocabulary 20 - lecture on topic/slideshows/student q&a 20 - experiment and wrap up Our course will cover everything that students need to know! No need to prep before class. Just come in and enjoy hand-on virtual learning with new friends!
Metas de aprendizaje
Students should leave class knowing the big picture of physics. They will be exposed to many math equations but will not have to memorize them for the course. Students should feel comfortable speaking about topics like linear and non-linear motion, electrostatics, energy conservation as well as many other topics covered in the course. As well as understanding many of the "how's" and "why's" of their everyday environment.

Lista de útiles escolares
Students will have handouts provided for each week. They will consist of guided notes and extra questions for additional thinking about the topic covered. Materials for all experiments are optional. The teacher will complete the experiment. If students would like to try they may bring supplies to class. Days where no materials are required may use batteries and electricity. Students may just watch these experiments so that they stay safe! Students may participate in each experiment with the following materials: wk 1 - tennis ball, rope wk 2 - no materials needed wk 3- no materials needed wk 4 - no materials needed wk 5 - no materials needed wk 6 - toy car, banana, pennies, stack of books, piece of cardboard, tape wk 7-toy cars/toys with wheels wk 8-any kind of toy balls, different sizes, sports balls ok too wk 9- no materials needed wk 10 - balloons (2 if possible) wk 11 - no materials needed wk 12- magnets of any kind!

We will be using Focus on Middle School Physics (3rd edition) by Rebecca Keller, as a reference. Students will not need the book for class as all content is presented in class. This is the base of reference is the student wishes to follow along with a text for additional learning support.
