Introducción a la costura a máquina para niños, preadolescentes y adolescentes.

This class is perfect to take if you have just gotten a new sewing machine and need some help getting off to a good start! This class is designed for students who have never used their sewing machine before and includes a basic introduction to the sewing machine and a slow yet steady process through the practice of machine sewing and projects.  Parents will need to be able to assist for parts of the lessons that will include cutting, ironing, and using needles yet parents do NOT need to have prior sewing knowledge to assist if needed.

I use an interactive classroom experience to share weekly instructional videos (if students WANT to use this, if not, all content will also be posted in the regular Outschool classroom). You can see a mock version of the interactive classroom

Students following this course will learn the following:

Lesson 1- "Meet Your Machine Style" Machine anatomy and how to thread your needle
Lesson 2 - Cool Coaster (or bookmark)
Lesson 3 - Small "monster" pillow with eyeballs (not real ones, don't worry)
Lesson 4 - "Fancy" French Seam Pillowcase
Lesson 5 - Tote-ally cool (and useful!) Tote Bag

This is a self-paced class that does NOT include live meetings with a teacher. I will present new content into the Outschool and interactive classroom for students to use and complete for the lessons on their own time. Lessons also include additional helpful mini-lessons showing how to use sewing notions, practice and fun sewing themed worksheets, and patterns as applicable to the lesson. Although there are no live meetings with this class, I am always available for additional encouragements and check-ins and answering questions throughout the course in either typed or video format to help students feel supported through their sewing.

I will also provide feedback on submitted photos and questions throughout the duration of the course and I will also be available throughout the duration of the course to answer questions or help with troubleshooting as needed.
