▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS INTRO ▬▬▬▬▬
Welcome to the "Intro to Earth Science: Geology" series, which focuses on some of the most dramatic physical forces on Earth, with the aim of making learning fun and exhilarating. I think making lessons enjoyable and bringing science to life is the best way to get kids engaged and learning without realising it. My classes focus on the Geology and Geophysics part of Earth Science. No previous experience necessary. This is simplified version of my Exiting Earth Sciences classes aimed at younger children. Please note that children in the lower end of the age range may find some topics slightly advanced for them.

▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬
In this class we focus on how the Earth formed at the same time as the Solar System. We explore how the Sun and Planets were formed from Dust, Asteroids and Comets and why the inner planets are rocky and the outer planets are gassy. Then we look at how Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics creates, transforms and recycles the rocks that make up the Earth's Crust and how they sometimes make supercontinents like Pangea. Finally we look at the future of the Earth and how even the matter that we are created will one day return to space to form other planets and stars. This is truely an epic journey through the whole history of the Earth - start to finish!

▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS STYLE ▬▬▬▬▬
I use powerpoint presentations for all my classes, so I can mix text and multimedia and make the class more interesting. This class will be run using an "intro-discussion-repeat" format. This means I will take a few minutes to introduce a topic, using images or videos wherever appropriate in order to bring the subject alive. Then we will pause to take questions and make sure everyone is keeping up. Then we'll move on to the next exciting sub-topic and supporting material, and then pause for questions after that one too. This means that you can enjoy the class however you like. Speak up and get involved and ask questions, or just listen and enjoy with no pressure. If you like this class then you check out my full "Basic Intro to Earth Science" course, with subjects cherry picked to choose the most interesting, accessible and relevant Earth Science subjects for kids, so they learn to enjoy exploring the world around them.

▬▬▬▬▬▬ LINKED TOPICS ▬▬▬▬▬
This class can be taken on its own, but is best understood along with my other "Intro to Earth Science" classes on:
1) Intro to Earth Science: Geology- How the Earth Formed, Pangea and the Rock Cycle
2) Intro to Earth Science: Geology- Volcanoes, Killer Ash & the Dinosaur Extinction
3) Intro to Earth Science: Geology- Fossils, Faults and Folds in Sedimentary Rocks
Please see my other class listings for more lessons in the School of Hard Rocks!

Metas de aprendizaje

To discover and learn without realising it, because you are having fun! By the end of the class the student will have an in depth knowledge of the history of the Earth and how we are all literally made of stardust. We will also explore how the Rock Cyle creates, transforms and recycles the rocks formations we see around us every day. and how Pangea was formed and then seperated.

Orientación para padres
This class mentions the end of the Earth far into the future which sensative students may find distressing. This class uses screen share to show PowerPoint slides with text and pictures. Some classes also show short videos. No other 3rd party tools are used.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
