In this interactive class, students will learn and develop their coding skills through puzzles and creative projects. This class features fun, colorful characters who need code directions to perform game-like tasks, find their way through a maze or draw a picture. Learners will drag and drop various command blocks (ex: move forward, turn left, turn right, repeat, collect, start, stop, set the background, set size, if/else, while/when, etc.) to guide the characters through each puzzle or to design a project. During each class session, I will coach each learner on the puzzle set or project they choose to work on and help build their understanding of core concepts such as sequencing, loops (repeats), sprites, events, conditionals, and functions. **NOTE: Everyone learns to code at their own unique pace and speed. Learners are encouraged to work on the Code.org puzzle sets and/or projects at a pace that feels comfortable to them. By nature of an ongoing class, all learners will likely be working on different and individualized coding activities in each class. **WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?: - Students with previous coding experience who want to develop their skills and learn more creative ways to design with code - Students with no coding experience (or very little) who want to learn the basics and continue practicing each week. **REQUIRED SKILLS: - Able to use a computer mouse/trackpad fluently - Able to read and follow written directions on the screen (audio directions also available) **TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: - A laptop or desktop computer is REQUIRED for coding in this class. (No tablets, please!)

Orientación para padres
Students at this young age very often need adult assistance using a computer. Since this is a virtual, online class, the teacher is obviously not present in the same room as the learner. The parent/guardian MUST be available during the entire class time to partner with the teacher and assist the learner as needed - setting up devices, logging in, finding the correct puzzles in the menu. Please expect to be at your learner’s side (off-camera) for the first 5-10 minutes of class to make sure they understand how to get started. If you see the learner is able to work independently with the teacher’s instructions, feel free to leave the room after 5-10 minutes. Please continue to be available in your home in case the learner needs to ask questions.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Dear Parents,
Welcome to my profile! My name is Usama, and I'm currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in Computational Sciences and AI.
For me, coding is not just a subject; it's a world of endless creativity and boundless possibilities. What sets me apart is my profound commitment to introducing children to the wonders of coding and guiding them on a journey of exploration and discovery.
As a passionate coder and educator, I believe that every child is unique. That's why I focus on personalized learning experiences. I craft each coding lab to cater to your child's specific age, prior experience, and, most importantly, their individual interests. The goal is to make learning fun, engaging, and highly relevant to their lives. This tailored approach ensures that your child not only learns but also enjoys the process.
I cover a diverse array of exciting topics in my classes. Whether it's Game Design with Scratch, Programming with Python, the fascinating world of JavaScript Web Development, creating Minecraft Mods, or even diving into the realm of Arduino Robotics, there's something to spark the curiosity of every young mind.
Note: I don't publish regular public class schedules because parents often prefer private 1:1 sessions, allowing flexibility to choose the most suitable timing. My classes are available throughout the week, starting from 9 AM (PST) and extending till 8 PM (PST) and beyond. This flexibility makes it easier for you to find the perfect timing for your child's coding journey.
I encourage you to reach out and have a conversation with me about your child's interests and aspirations. This dialogue will help us align their passions with our lesson plans, ensuring they get the most out of each session.
Looking forward to helping your young learners thrive in the world of coding!
