In this ongoing summer class, intermediate-level French students with prior exposure to the language (e.g., those who have already taken 2-3 years of French in school or my Intro to French: Part B class) will review the fundamentals of French grammar and sentence construction, as well as vocabulary and pronunciation. This comprehensive review will help ensure that they don't lose their knowledge of the language during the summer months. Since this is an ongoing class, learners may attend all weeks or simply drop in any week that they like. We'll spend our class time reviewing (or learning) specific grammar concepts, translating sentences, reading passages aloud (and practicing pronunciation), answering reading comprehension questions, and/or writing sentences and paragraphs. The teaching approach will be adjusted according to the comfort level of students (e.g., whether students are comfortable speaking in front of the rest of the class). Although we will review and practice particular parts of speech each class, learners will be challenged to use their existing understanding of grammar and vocabulary every week in their translations and other activities. Week of June 9-15: Possessive adjectives; demonstrative adjectives Week of June 16-June 22: Demonstrative pronouns; possessive pronouns Week of June 23-29: Interrogative sentences; conjunctions Week of June 30-July 6: (no class on July 4th) Week of July 7-13: Prepositions; the relative pronouns "que" and "qui" Week of July 14-20: Superlatives; prepositions that express "more than/less than" Week of July 21-July 27: The partitive article; expressions of quantity Week of July 28-August 3: Prepositions of time and sequence; adverbs Week of August 4-10: Direct object pronouns; indirect object pronouns; the pronoun "y" Students will be provided with grammar notes and vocabulary lists (posted as Word documents in the classroom) to use as reference.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I was educated bilingually in Canada all the way through university, where I graduated with an Honours double major degree in psychology and French studies from a bilingual university in Toronto (Université York). Because most of my teachers and professors were from France, my accent is more French (European) than French Canadian. I've been teaching beginner French classes at the middle school and high school levels here on Outschool for the last two years. Before that, I taught the language at a large home school co-op and also to my own four children as I home educated them for eight years.
