Does your student love finding new ways to express their creative side? Do they have a love of interior design or architecture? Each week, students will learn how to create new interior design drawings. We'll explore terminology and ways to bring onto paper the designs they imagine. Students will learn about and execute hand-drawn renderings, elevation, perspectives, detail drawings, furniture drawings, texture drawings and more. Students will discover how to use different mediums to render their designs each week. The class will be structured with a step-by-step approach, with freedom to add details and change elements, so that students are able to express their own personal design style in each drawing. I will share my screen and show the techniques involved in completing each drawing as students follow along, personalizing the drawing as much as they'd like! We'll have time for questions and students will be encouraged (but not required) to share their work and get feedback from other learners and the teacher. Some weeks we will complete one longer drawing and other weeks we will have time to create more than one drawing. My teaching style is relaxed and informal- I encourage discussions and getting to know one another as much as possible! No prior knowledge or experience is needed. 2022 Week of May 17: Elevations and Tile Detail Drawing Supplies needed: white paper, ruler, pencil and eraser, colored pencils Optional supplies: graph paper Week of May 24: Bedroom Floor Plan Drawing and Furniture Symbols in Floor Plan View Supplies needed: white paper or graph paper, ruler, pencil and eraser Optional supplies: fine-tip black marker, colored pencils (These will be used for finishing details.) Lista de útiles escolares
white paper (computer paper, drawing, or sketch paper will all work) pencil or drawing pencils (I recommend a mechanical pencil, but any sharpened pencil will work. Some students like to use a set of drawing pencils when drawing furniture- this is completely optional.) a set of colored pencils (Any set will work. I use Prismacolor.) ruler (any ruler will work. I use a flexible clear ruler.) fine tip black marker (Any marker will work. I use this Micron set: https://www.amazon.com/Sakura-Pigma-30067-Micron-Blister/dp/B004QHI43S/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=micron+set&qid=1619620973&s=office-products&sr=1-1) graph paper with 1/4" grid eraser Optional: drafting tape. Drafting tape is used for holding paper down to a drawing surface. Drafting tape is specially made to not rip the paper when removed. This tape is extremely useful when drawing lines with a ruler and some students find it helpful. We will use a computer printout for one class. This will be available in the classroom.

About the Teacher: Hello parents! My name is Kristin and I own and run an Interior Design Build company that focuses on complete design build projects, with a focus on great architectural and interior design. I also teach project-led learning at our local micro school and lead a Homeschool Adventures Field Trip company. My goal is to help kids learn real-world skills in areas they're truly interested in. I teach in a lighthearted manner, and I value getting to know each student personally.
I have worked in the home design industry for 10 years in interior design, architectural design, home staging, real estate, and designing investment properties. I have worked with several students and interns, guiding them in building their design talents and in learning more about the industry. I love helping students discover their love of design and guiding them in the steps it takes to become a great designer!
