"I Can Read! Write! Spell!" ELA Grades 2 & 3 is for emergent and eager readers, helping learners develop basic language, word repetition, short sentences, familiar words, simple concepts via shared & beginning reading skills, developing confident young readers.

These sessions are interactive where learners will read aloud with their Teacher, learn new vocabulary words, sight words, practice spelling, writing and phonetics [sounding our words, blending beginning, middle & ending sounds, word families] to help improve their reading, as well as comprehension, understanding details and sequence of events in each story/book read. Learners will practice shared and paired reading with their Teacher and other learners in the class.

This class is appropriate for students in Second Grade who are trying their best to read [and readers who want more], Second & Third Graders, and English Language Learners/ESL learners. Learners should know the letters of the alphabet, have some knowledge of their sounds, and have basic knowledge of basic sight words [a, and, all, but, do, good, in, is, have, now, that, they, who, with, yes, etc.]. Learners should NOT worry if they don't know EVERY letter sound, short or long vowel sounds because, if you're just starting out, this class is ideal for beginners [emergent] and those looking to strengthen their reading skills [eager readers] and ESL students [English as a Second Language] because they'll learn the skills to help become a fluent English reader, speaker and writer in these classes.

Are you ready? Let's learn to read or become a better reader in this "I Can Read! Write! Spell!" ELA Grades 2 & 3.

Orientación para padres
Parents, the books in the "I Can Read!" series has been used since 1957 and is widely known as a premier line for beginning readers. I chose this particular series for that reason and because it has hundreds of titles featuring award-winning authors and illustrators. A teacher [and parents] can find books at every stage to engage and excite young readers! Additional books outside the "I Can Series" have been chosen as good, solid, teach me to read books and will be used from time-to-time throughout the year. Safety and security in the learning environment is my priority as well as Outschool's. I encourage parents to feel free to check out each book on my reading list to ensure its appropriateness for your learner and that you are comfortable with the content. Additionally, please be sure to have all the learner supplies listed below in the Learner Supply List at the learner's first class so s/he is ready and prepared to participate fully upon enrollment. Thank you. *** A different book may be substituted with notice. For academic purposes, cameras and mics must be working and turned on for the duration of each lesson.

I am a retired public school Principal who has taught and written curriculum for grades K-12 in all subject areas. I have taught learners from grades K-12, Special needs learners, adults, ESL learners from several countries it seems for most of my life. Teaching children is what I love to do! And teaching learners of all ages to read and write is my passion. I personally am an avid reader and have been since I was a little girl hearing my Mom say, "Lights out in there. It's way past your bedtime" as I read with a flashlight under my covers. I love to work with children in all subject area [reading, writing, science, cooking to name a few] but teaching them to read and write in particular is probably my favorite. Seeing the "lights" come on as a learner "gets it" is what I love most and love being a part of that experience.

I am very happy to be teaching on the Outschool platform and look forward to my passion for reading, rubbing off on your learner.
