Make your letters POP when you learn to write anything in 1 point perspective and 3-D block form!

In this self-paced class, we will create awesome three dimensional letters, and by the end, you could even write your own name in this cool artsy style! This class is suitable for both learners who know how to create bubble or block letters as well as those who do not know how. Those more advanced learners who can draw block letters can hand draw their letters for practicing, while those newer to hand lettering can use my printable PDF that I provide with the block letters ready to work off of! Here is what we will learn each week:

Lesson 1: Creating Drop Shadow Letters
I will guide learners step by step in an instructional video how to get started creating a three-dimensional looking letter or shape. I will demonstrate both letters and shapes in a drop shadow block style and learners can work off of their own hand-drawn letters and shapes, or print off and use my PDF practice document. There is no need to have expert-level drawing to learn the concepts of creating 3-D letters!
Supplies needed: paper (or printed off PDF), pencil, eraser, and a ruler. (The ruler can be half-sized, such as a plastic protractor - it does not need to be a foot length.) I will be referring to millimeters or fractions of inches when using the ruler.

Lesson 2: 3-D Letters Using 1 Point Perspective From a Center Point
In the week two video, I will guide learners step by step to create a new style of 3-D lettering. We will use 1 point perspective, using a vanishing point to create a three dimensional set of letters. Just as the week before, learners can work off of their own hand-drawn letters and shapes, or print off and use my PDF practice document.
Supplies needed: paper (or printed off PDF), pencil, eraser, and a ruler. (The ruler can be half-sized, such as a plastic protractor - it does not need to be a foot length.) I will be referring to millimeters or fractions of inches when using the ruler.

Lesson 3: Extra Deep Drop Shadow Letters
Just like week one, I will guide learners step by step in an instructional video how to get started creating a three-dimensional looking letter, but this time, we will make extra deep shapes. I will demonstrate in a deep drop shadow block style and learners can work off of their own hand-drawn letters and shapes, or print off and use my PDF practice document.

Lesson 4: Using what you already know, I'll show you how to build a really cool piece of art to make a 3-D phrase or shapes stand out and look like it's coming toward you from a vanishing point at the center.
Just as the weeks before, learners can work off of their own hand-drawn letters and shapes, or print off and use my PDF practice document.

My goal for all learners is that they are able to learn to techniques that they can repeat on their own, using my instruction, tips, and practice pages. I would love for all students to challenge themselves to try new angles on their own, try writing their name, or their friends' names, or other words or phrases they love!

Lección 1:
Creating Drop Shadow Letters
We are going to start out with Lesson 1a: The Box. This lesson will help you get a handle on the 3-D shadow box technique.

Once you have mastered 1a, it’s time to move on to Lesson 1b! Here we will begin to practice using letters. Use the PDF to practice letters, or hand write your own letters for practice - or a mix of both!
Lección 2:
One-Point Perspective from a Center Point
In Lesson 2a, where we will first practice a one-point perspective using a shape.

Next, move on to Lesson 2b, where we will practice LETTERS! Use the printable attached, or hand write your own letters. Either way is great practice!
Lección 3:
Extra Deep Letters
In this lesson, we are going to use some printed letters. Print the new practice document attached before starting the video. There are two parts, so feel free to pause in the middle and do it at two different times, or all together!
Lección 4:
Create an Explosive Art Piece
Using what you already know, I'll show you how to build a really cool piece of art to make a 3-D phrase or shapes stand out and look like it's coming toward you from a vanishing point at the center.

Hello, I'm Ms. Jes!

In my classes, kids unleash their inner artist using favorite characters and games that I’m just as passionate about as they are. We explore spontaneous creativity and embracing “mistakes”. Let’s start drawing outside the box!

I am most passionate about teaching art and learning in unique ways. My approach to teaching infuses encouragement and optimism while having fun and connecting with a new generation over shared interests. Every child is special and celebrated for being who they are! No matter the class, I believe in positively approaching learning and finding joy in it.

• Outside of Outschool, I founded a nonprofit youth performing arts academy in 2015.

• I live in the beautiful Midwest of the USA with my husband and two children.

• If you need financial assistance, please don't hesitate to message me, and I will do my best to offer a reduced rate whenever possible.
