Step right into our homeschool Algebra 1 adventure! Join our certified teacher on a year-long journey, where learners not only study with consistency but also bond with fellow peers through project-based learning! Experience live classes twice a week, every week, with opportunities for one-on-one assistance from Miss Sarah before or after each session. Every class comes with a homework assignment due at the start of our next meeting. Homework completion is key to mastering each lesson in Algebra 1, as concepts build upon each other. Spend the first 5 minutes of class reviewing assignments together, and feel free to message Miss Sarah for revisions and corrections anytime! During each class, we'll make use of breakout rooms to keep things interactive! Students will receive whole-group instructions on a new skill and then dive into small activities within their breakout rooms. Miss Sarah will keep a close eye on all rooms, rotating between them, and will also be accessible in the main session for one-on-one assistance. Students are welcome to invite Miss Sarah into their breakout rooms at any time for additional help with any challenges they encounter. Daily Schedule: - Homework review: approximately 5 minutes - New lesson in whole group instruction: approximately 15 minutes - Small group activity in breakout rooms: approximately 10 minutes - Large group review in main session: approximately 10 minute - The last 5 minutes will be left for questions and homework explanation The following topics will be covered: Unit 4: Matrices and Determinants (Weeks 1-3) Matrix operations Multiplying matrices Determinants and Cramer’s Rule Identity and inverse matrices Solving systems using inverse matrices Unit 5: Quadratic Functions (Weeks 4-6) Graphing quadratic functions Solving quadratic equations by factoring Solving quadratics equations by finding square roots Complex numbers Completing the square The quadratic formula and the discriminant Graphing and solving quadratic inequalities Modeling and quadratic functions Unit 6: Polynomials and Polynomial Functions (Week 7) Using properties of exponents Evaluating and graphing polynomial functions Adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials Factoring and solving polynomial equations The remainder and factor theorems Finding rational zeros Using the fundamental theorem of algebra Analyzing graphs of polynomial functions Modeling with polynomial functions All materials will be supplied through the class the Saturday before at noon EST. All assignments will be turned in through the classroom and will receive individual feedback. Students will also share work with other classmates to facilitate peer review skills.
