Looking for a fun,  high interest, and engaging learning group for your 7th grader? This course is individualized so each and every student is working on their own plan while still being able to learn with their peers. For over 10 years we have worked with homeschoolers in a microschool co-op Ms. Iman started. Our Kind Curriculum©️ is engaging, project based, and sparks the wonder in our students.

During this class students will be able to build connections and friendships with peers while having fun learning all the skills they need to know before 8th Grade.   Our courses are short and done with very small groups of learners so students can really have the chance to have the attention of the teacher and connect with other students. 

Each class covers the following
Day 1: Math: 30 minutes of group fluency, minilessons, and Word Problems, 20 minutes of independent lessons where students work through fluency, concept development, and independent practice at their own pace with precise and supportive digital and teacher feedback.

Topic A Scaled Copies
Lesson 1 Differentiate between scaled and non-scaled copies of a figure.
Lesson 2 Identify corresponding parts and determine the scale factor between two figures.

Topic B Scale Drawings
Lesson 7 Use a scale drawing and its scale to calculate actual distances.
Lesson 8 Use scale drawings to estimate distance traveled, speed, and elapsed time.
Lesson 11 Explain (orally and in writing) how to use scales without units to determine scaled or actual distances.
Lesson 12 Use different scales, with or without units, to describe the same drawings.
Topic C Let’s Put It to Work
Lesson 13 Create scale drawings using an appropriate scale.
Topic A Representing Proportional Relationships with Tables
Lesson 1 Compare and create representations to compare ratios in the context of recipes or scaled copies.
Topic B Representing Proportional Relationships with Equations
Lesson 4 Write equations to represent a proportional relationship described in a table.
Lesson 5 Write two equations that represent the same proportional relationship.
Lesson 6 Use tables and equations to solve problems involving proportional relationships.
Topic C Comparing Proportional and Nonproportional Relationships
Lesson 7 Use a table of values to determine if a relationship is proportional.
Lesson 8 Recognize that proportional relationships are characterized by equations in the form y = kx.

Lesson 10 Generalize that the graph of a proportional relationship lies on a line through the origin.

Topic A Circumference of a Circle
Lesson 3 Explore the relationship between the diameter and circumference of circles.
Lesson 4 Apply an understanding of circumference to find the distance around a shape.
Topic B Area of a Circle
Lesson 6 Calculate and estimate the area of irregular polygons.
Lesson 7 Estimate the area of a circle using the area of a square with same side length as the radius.
Lesson 9 Calculate the area of more complicated shapes that include fractions of circles.
Topic C Let’s Put it to Work
Lesson 10 Decide whether the circumference or area of a circle is most useful in solving a problem and use
formulas for area and circumference to solve problems relating to real-world situations.
Lesson 11 Apply understanding of area and circumference of circles to solve design problems.
Topic A Proportional Relationships with Fractions
Lesson 1 Calculate the percentage of a rectangular area that is covered by another region, and explain why the
percentage is the same in scaled copies of the same figure.
Lesson 2 Solve problems involving equivalent ratios with fractional quantities.
Lesson 3 Calculate and interpret the scale factor and constant of proportionality for a proportional relationship.
Lesson 4 Use fractions to describe increases and decreases.
Lesson 5 Use decimals to describe increases and decreases.
