Travel with me on an engaging journey through African-American history through all 50 states! We will explore influential African American heroes , landmarks, and events in TWO new states every class! In each lesson students should expect to learn about 2 African American heroes who either lived in the state or had a significant impact on the state, a major historical civil rights event in the state, fun state trivia throughout the lesson, and a physical historical landmark that is currently in the state today.
Students will be creating their own post cards from every state we visit at the end of class. I will give students a slide at the end of class showing them various state icons that they can use on their postcards if they choose. Classes are presented using Canva. Review games are used via Gim Kit and Kahoot. There will occasionally be a supplemental video as well using Youtube. Fall semester will be Part 1 for the course, the remaining states will be done through Part 2 in the spring semester. Student enrolling in the Spring portion of this class must have taken Part 1 in the fall.

Students will need a notebook or sketchbook for their postcards. Students will be given a notes template to take notes on if they choose but not required. They also will be given a postcard template that they can use to make their postcards on. These can be put in your notebook (glue). Or students can choose to free hand notes (not required) and post cards in their postcards.
