This one-time voice class is a great opportunity for young singers to learn about healthy singing techniques and basic musicianship skills. Participants will grow in confidence and music fluency in a fun and engaging atmosphere and will also learn a short song each week that incorporates learned skills! We will focus on learning specific singing techniques through vocal warmups, brief lessons, song learning, and optional solo singing. Each weekly meeting will be an opportunity for students to learn more about their own unique voice and to engage in playful exploration of their vocal ability. Potential subjects to be covered include postural alignment, breathing technique, exploration of vocal range, pitch matching, introductory solfege, and basic sight-singing skills. Though there is an innate benefit to attending consecutive classes, students can attend each lesson exclusive of the others, as each class will be taught at a level accessible to young beginners. - Students will sing warmup exercises about snow, winter weather, and winter activities - Students will learn about how we sing to tell stories - Students will learn an excerpt from Do You Want to Build a Snowman - No previous knowledge required, all topics will be approached with the beginner in mind!
