At the end of class, students will create a letter to Abigail Adams that includes what they admire about her and a few questions they have based on what they learned during the class. Learners may share their letters with each other if they desire to read them aloud.

Travel back in time to learn about the life of Abigail Adams. We will spend our time together in the years 1750-1818 to understand Adams as a young woman in the New England colonies, a supporter of American independence, an advisor to her husband and First Lady of the United States.  Through images, discussion, and primary sources the learners will gain an understanding of who Abigail Adams was and role she played in the early years of the United States.  We will look at important locations in her life, read some of her own words and create a letter to Abigail Adams based on her life and legacy. The course will be taught using Google slides, images, discussion and websites mentioned in the External Resources section. Bring some paper to write on, a pencil, and an open mind to learning history!
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will read and analyze primary sources about Abigail Adams during the American Revolution as well as her travels abroad and experiences as First Lady of the United States.
Students will discuss the influence Adams had as a woman in early America through her actions and the advice she gave her husband, John Adams. 
Students will understand important moments in Adams life through various visuals.
Students will be able to express in writing what they learned about Abigail Adams and questions they would like to ask her if she were alive today.
