Happy Fourth of July! In this one time class, we will examine the history of America's biggest holiday. We will take a brief look at what led to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, why it is celebrated on the 4th of July and not the 2nd, and how it was celebrated in the 1700's. What's so American about apple pie? Why do we have barbecues? When did it become a federal holiday? We will take a look at the use of fireworks, the American flag, and the history behind the Star Spangled Banner.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn about how and why this holiday is celebrated.
