In this class, students will explore the realities of medieval castle life, from the roles of knights, lords, ladies, and peasants to the daily routines, food, hygiene, defense, and entertainment of the Middle Ages. Class Structure & Topics Covered: Introduction to Medieval Castles – Why were they built? Who lived in them? Daily Life Inside the Castle – The good, the bad, and the smelly! Knights & Warfare – Training, armor, and castle defense. Feasts & Food – What people really ate (spoiler: no potatoes or chocolate!). Hygiene & Health – No running water, no bathrooms… so how did they manage? Castle Entertainment & Festivals – Jousting, music, and medieval fun! Teaching Style & Interaction: This class is highly interactive and engaging, with a mix of storytelling, slides, and discussion. Students will participate in group discussions, and they’ll have the chance to ask questions and share their thoughts throughout the lesson. Expect exciting visuals, medieval trivia, and even a few surprising (and gross!) facts to keep things lively!
