Integrated Physics and Chemistry is an introductory class to both Physics,Chemistry and Earth Science . It is a great class for students who might not have a strong math or science background or who want an overview of science and scientific principles. The topics included are: Week 1: Waves- Students will identify types of waves and the parts of a wave as well as how waves interact. Week 2: Light- We will examine the electromagnetic spectrum Week 3: Sound-Acoustics and pitch Week 4: Circular Motion- What is centripetal force Week 5: Gravity- Universal Law of GravitationWeek 6: Work and Power- Conservation of Energy and Energy-Work theorem Week 7: Electricity- Static and current Week 8: Heat- The study of Thermodynamics Week 9: Introduction to Earth Science- Students will learn about how the solar system formed. Week 10:Rocks and Minerals- Students will identify rocks and minerals. Week 11: Layers of the Earth- Students will identify the properties of the layers of the Earth. Week 12: Earthquakes and Volcanoes- Students will learn about the devastating effects of natural disasters. Week 13:Oceanography-What is an Ocean? Week 14: Oceanography- We will discuss how waves are formed. Week 15: Meteorology- We will look at weather and cloud formation. Week 16: Review and Final The goal of this class is to get the students to interact with myself and each other. I encourage them to make comments and questions during the presentation and to ask questions that are out of the ordinary. Homework will be given each week and if completed and returned then students will receive feedback to help them measure their progress. Optional labs will be provided as well. At the end of the class students will be given a midterm exam and if they complete that I will issue a report card for them.
