Qué está incluido

2 reuniones en vivo
1 horas 50 minutos horas de clase por semana
Tarea
1 hora por semana. Depending on the learners and the pace of each session, there may be some amount of homework in this class in order to reinforce what we learn in each class.
Evaluación
Assessments are given as a self-check for students to check for comprehension. Students can take them as open-note or closed-note quizzes. They can also retake the quizzes as many times as they want. Therefore, they are not official assessments like official quizzes and tests in traditional school systems.
Calificación
Students can see their own quiz grades after each attempt. I do not keep a gradebook. I can provide the highest and the lowest grades from the attempts for each quiz upon request from parents. Please keep in mind that they are not official grades since students can use their notes and can retake them unlimited number of times.

In this course, students will learn common topics seen during the first semester in high school chemistry level 1 (both regular & honors US curricula); please see the list below. Learners at both honors and regular level chemistry are welcome to sign up. We will cover the topics in depth so that learners can understand the materials thoroughly. Please note that this is a semester course condensed into 22 days. This is a suitable course for home-schooled students and for students who are currently enrolled in high school chemistry and want additional support for the listed topics.

There will be homework in this course. Students will need to keep up with the classwork and the homework to get the full benefit from this course as later materials will build on earlier materials in chemistry. For some of the topics, learners will have the option to work on more difficult problems. Answers to the practice problems will be shown in class so that learners can watch the recordings to review. Videos of lab activities will be provided to students. A few of these lab activities (not all) can be performed at home with parental guidance by following the directions in the videos. Instructions will be provided when we get to the lab portion.

Presentations, practice problems, videos and simulations will be used to teach. Depending on the topic, I may use online assessments to check for student understanding. Worksheet packets that go along with the presentations and homework problems will be provided. Students are expected to take some notes as they fill in the blanks on the handouts. This class is an interactive class; when in doubt, students are encouraged to ask questions. I will be assisting students while they work.

The recording of each session will be available to enrolled students after attending one live session (as long as there are students present in each session). This is meant to help learners review or catch up if they miss anything during class as the class may have diverse learners.

⚠️Please check the meeting dates around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year times as we won't have meetings on and around the holidays. Meeting dates may vary around the following time periods:
***Winter Break: Christmas to New Year's day
***Spring Break: second week of April

⚠️Later topics will build on earlier topics in chemistry. Students are welcome to join for just one week, a few weeks or the whole course as the class is an ongoing class. However, students must be comfortable with the earlier topics either from school or from self learning to understand later topics. If you feel that you are not familiar with the prerequisites, please reach out to me to set up a private tutoring session to help you cover the prerequisites mentioned for each UNIT.
