18 lessons//18 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Macromolecules
Students will learn about the four major biomolecules. Students will have access to labs during the week (that just require some basic home materials).
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Macromolecule Continued
Students will learn about the four major biomolecules, but will dig deeper into Enzymes. Students will have access to labs during the week (that just require some basic home materials).
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Cells
Students will learn about cells (types and make-up) through a variety of of methods.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Cell Transport
Students will learn about Cell Transport and have an opportunity to set up a demo at home using eggs and basic home-goods.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Cellular Respiration
Students will learn about Cellular respiration and be able to draw connections between respiration and photosynthesis.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Photosynthesis
Using the lesson from last week, students will learn about photosynthesis and draw connections between the two.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Cell Division
Students will learn how cells divide. They will have an opportunity to model cell division using edible models.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
DNA
Students will use what they used during the Cell Division Unit and discover more about the S phase. Students will also learn the differences between DNA and RNA
 Week 9
Lesson 9
Protein Synthesis and Mutations
Building on the last 2 weeks of materials, students will apply it to a process called protein synthesis. They will now be able to outline the steps of central dogma.
 Week 10
Lesson 10
Meiosis
Students will use what they learned during the cell division unit and apply it here. They will learn what makes us different and why, though you are a product of your parents, you look different.
 Week 11
Lesson 11
Genetics I
This is an introduction to genetics and students will learn the basic concepts and vocabulary terms before they delve into non-mendelian genetics.
 Week 12
Lesson 12
Genetics II
Students will take the lessons they learned in the previous unit and enhance them by learning more complex methods of inheritance.
 Week 13
Lesson 13
Biotechnology
Now that students have learned where genes come from, what DNA looks like, and how it works - we will now investigate how we know all of these things. Students will explore a range of biotechnological methods and have an opportunity to complete a very challenging project.
 Week 14
Lesson 14
Evolution I
During week one of Evolution, students will spend time looking through the misconceptions of evolution and drawing their own conclusions.
 Week 15
Lesson 15
Evolution II
Now that students have gained a better understanding of evolution, students will dig into the evidence that supports it and map how certain organisms have changed over time. They will also revisit cells and finally answer the question, "where did cells come from?"
 Week 16
Lesson 16
Classification
Students will learn how to categorize different organisms with a variety of methods.
 Week 17
Lesson 17
Human Impact and Ecology
Students will take everything we've learned this semester and bring it together in this unit. How do we impact our environment? what can we do to help our environment? Students will get a large research project to start this unit.
 Week 18
Lesson 18
Ecology Cont. and Review for Final
We will complete the previous unit and review the content from the semester. Students will have access to the final for 2 weeks.
  • Students will improve their understanding of the biological world.
  • Students will comprehend key biological concepts such as cell theory, genetics, evolution, and ecology.
  • Students will develop the ability to conduct scientific investigations and think critically about biological phenomena.
  • Students will recognize the importance of biology in everyday life and its implications for health, technology, and the environment.
I was a public school teacher for 10 years. I taught biology for most of them, but also taught physical science, Earth Science, and Anatomy.

I have been an online teacher since 2020.

Detalles: The homework is the notebook pages provided to students to complete for the rest of the week. They can split up the work how they choose, but I will provide a weekly pacing guide to help them!

Detalles: GRADE ARE BY REQUEST ONLY and it is very important that this is communicated with me the first week of class.
I teach this course using a variety of methods: Visual biology/doodles, learning through gaming, interactive videos, interactive assignments using the digital notebooks, and music. I hope to reach every type of learner.
Students need a google account to use the documents I will share. All assignments are on a google document so that students can manipulate the assignment and I can view it real time. Labs do come up, but those needs will always be shared ONE WEEK before they occur. Some labs will be demos and I will do them in class- I will share these with the students and then they are welcome to do them too!
