Algebra 1 is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and techniques of algebra. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and problem-solving exercises, students will develop their understanding of algebraic principles and learn how to apply them to real-world situations. The course will cover topics such as solving equations and inequalities, graphing linear and quadratic functions, factoring polynomials, and simplifying algebraic expressions. Students will also learn how to use technology tools such as graphing calculators and online resources to enhance their learning. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in algebra and be well-prepared for further study in mathematics.

In 24 weeks, students will complete a comprehensive course in High School Algebra 1 that will prepare them for High School Geometry and Algebra 2. The topics covered in the course are carefully selected to benefit learners in their future math classes.

Each class will start with a lecture, during which learners are encouraged to take notes and ask questions. The remainder of the class will be dedicated to solving problems together as a group or individually, allowing learners to practice the concepts covered in class and ask any questions they may have.

Weekly homework will be assigned using free online learning resources such as Khan Academy, or worksheets provided by the instructor. Progress on Khan Academy can be tracked online, while worksheets are to be submitted via photo/pdf/doc.

Learners must do their homework and practice topics weekly, as math builds on itself and retention of information is key.

The pace of the course may vary depending on the class. Special cases, such as all real numbers and no solution for equations/inequalities, will also be covered in units that include word problems and setting up equations/inequalities.

One-on-one tutoring is available outside of class upon request.

The final class will be a review of all the topics covered in the course. The instructor will wait for 10 minutes at the start of each class, and if no one shows up, the class will be canceled.
