Week 1 Day 1: Unit 1 Thinking Geographically Review, Strategies for Multiple Choice Questions Day 2: Unit 2 Population and Migration Patterns and Processes Review, Discussion of Spatial Relationships Week 2: Day 3: Unit 3 Cultural Patterns and Processes Review, Discussion of Data Analysis Day 4: Unit 4 Political Patterns and Processes Review, Free Response Writing Strategies Week 3: Day 5: Unit 5 Agricultural and Rural Land Use Patterns and Processes Review, Discussion of Source Analysis Day 6: Unit 6 Cities and Urban Land Use Patterns and Processes Review, Discussion of Scale of Analysis Week 4: Day 7: Unit 7 Industrial and Economic Development Patterns and Processes Review, Free Response Practice Day 8: Exam Best Practices Discussion with Free Response Questions and Multiple Choice, Models Review Students will prepare for the classes with one-page unit reviews. Once prepared for each class, we will discuss the contents of each unit review, draw connections between the units to deepen student understanding of the AP Human Geography Content. We will practice the 5 Big Skills outlined with the content throughout the review sessions to improve student analysis and practice these skills through practice free response and multiple choice questions during each lesson. Discussion is the foundation of the course as it allows us to focus on student needs throughout our time together. We will will analyze photos, maps, data charts and apply the geographic skills as we interact with each other and the content. ****Please be sure to check the schedule for each section of the class. Students will identify, explain, and apply their knowledge through discussion and critical analysis of Thinking Geographically (Unit 1), Population and Migration (Unit 2), Cultural Patterns and Processes (Unit 3), Political Patterns and Processes (Unit 4), Agricultural and Rural Land Use Patterns and Processes (Unit 5), Cities and Urban Land Use Patterns and Processes (Unit 6), and Industrial and Economic Development Patterns and Processes (Unit 7).
Students will better understand the AP tasks verbs to enable them to correctly answer the writing prompts.
Students will be able to deconstruct multiple choice questions in a timely fashion to best apply their knowledge and answer correctly.
Students will use a geographic perspective to apply the following 5 Big Skills on the AP exam: Concepts and Processes, Spatial Relationships, Data Analysis, Source Analysis, and Scale Analysis

While discussing Unit 2, population policies, including pro-natal and anti-natal policies will be discussed from various parts of the world. Additionally, cultural identity is a key component of the curriculum and some discussions will include definitions of race, ethnicity, and nationality with the geographic perspective in mind.

It is part of the designed Advanced Placement curriculum and I have been trained through the College Board on how to best handle these sensitive topics. I am a certified Advanced Placement Human Geography teacher on my valid SC teaching license and National Board Certified for Young Adolescents in Social Studies. I have also been an Advanced Placement Human Geography Reader for the past 9 years where these topics have been tested on the examination and I have scored.
